Last week, an entire busload of 20 Vietnamese entrepreneurs from the food technology sector made a stop in the industrial area in Senden, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. They were visiting the mechanical engineering company KREYENBORG. The group learned about food processing methods for products such as nuts, seeds, and tea, which can be dried, roasted, or pasteurized using machines “Made in Germany.”

The visit was made possible through a partnership program by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, which connects small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Germany with companies in developing and emerging countries.

“A whole delegation of Vietnamese guests wasn’t something we’ve had on the program before,” said Udo Gielen, Managing Partner of KREYENBORG GmbH & Co. KG. His company operates sales activities worldwide, including in Asia. KREYENBORG participated in the federal government’s partnership program because Vietnam represents an attractive growth market for the Senden-based firm. Gielen explains: “Nut cultivation and processing is a key business sector in Vietnam, and our infrared machine is extremely well suited to roasting, drying, and pasteurizing products such as cashews and macadamia nuts, as well as tea, pepper, and seeds.”

The visiting group included entrepreneurs active in exactly these fields. In the so-called Food trial center - a hybrid of laboratory and machine hall - technology became a hands-on experience. Before the guests’ eyes, raw almonds were transformed into fragrant roasted nuts - thanks to KREYENBORG’s advanced infrared technology.

Following a tour through the final assembly halls for infrared machines, silos, mixers, and conveyor systems - equipment shipped from Senden to destinations around the globe - the Vietnamese delegation continued on its journey. They are spending two weeks in Germany and will be visiting other companies during their stay.
